As your projects grow over time, model revisions start to add up. In many cases, it's becoming increasingly difficult to identify & track design changes. It becomes ever-challenging when using multiple file formats. That's where you make use of our comparison feature called 3D Diff.

How does it work?

The way it works is simple, select any two model revisions and run the comparison on them. 3D Diff identifies any geometric changes in real-time, regardless of the file format. Since the comparison is based solely on geometry, any missing object IDs are no longer a problem.

3D Diff will present your results in 2 distinct colours, Green for new geometry, Red for deleted geometry. Essentially you can see which model elements change and how much.

Example

In this example, we have received the initial house design titled Revision 1. After a few design iterations, an architect uploads a new model revision title Revision 2. That's where we can use 3D Diff to help us identify model changes between the two revisions. New geometry presented in green, whilst anything deleted is in red. Note that if there are no geometric changes, they will show up in grey colour.
