The 3D Repo for Autodesk® Navisworks® plugin provides a convenient way of exporting your models from within the Navisworks desktop application.

Use this option if the model publisher fails to upload your model due to weak network bandwidth. Unlike with the model publisher, where the file is sent directly to 3D Repo, the model exporter will save a local version of the BIM file (3D Repo's proprietary file format). Upload the BIM file directly on our platform as shown here.

Currently supported versions: Navisworks Manage/Simulate 2020, 2021 & 2022

Initial Setup

  • Download and install the plugin prior to opening the Navisworks desktop application

  • Open your 3D model (.nwc or .nwd) in Navisworks
Note that .nwf is a reference file without any geometry and does not work for publishing. If you're working with a .nwf model, save it as NWD then follow the steps below

  • Once you have exported the BIM file, head over to 3drepo.io and upload it there

We advise you to take measurements and check that your Navisworks model matches the model units in 3D Repo.

Export .BIM files

  • Click on the Export icon located in the 3D Repo tab (main ribbon menu)

  • In the Export window provide the following information:

    1. Model units (mm/cm/dm/m/ft). Tick the box to use the project units

    2. Choose the save location for your file

    3. Provide a name for the BIM file

    4. Click on the Export button

  • The progress bar will appear

  • Done will indicate a successful export.
A warning message will tell you otherwise.

Great! Now that your file is ready, head over to 3drepo.io and upload the model directly to a relevant model container.
